Economy minister expresses his support for Turkish investment in Armenia

YEREVAN, October 13. /ARКА/. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan has expressed his approval of Turkish investments in Armenia. During a press briefing, he mentioned that Turkish enterprises have been active in Armenia since 2012-2013, including outlets of a prominent clothing brand.
"I genuinely endorse these investments, as any enduring peace between neighboring nations must be bolstered by financial contributions. I find it entirely reasonable for peace to be fostered once borders are opened to facilitate an influx of investments, including those from Turkey. We must also make investments there," stated Papoyan.
He further asserted that without such actions, the sustainability of a viable state could be in jeopardy. He contemplated the potential for establishing a Turkish-brand hotel in Armenia by 2026.
Concerning potential Armenian investments in Turkey, Papoyan emphasized that Armenia's primary objective is to export its products to Turkey.
"Secondly, we should take advantage of the capabilities of Turkish ports and roadways, which will enhance the competitiveness of our goods, as access to the Mediterranean through Turkish ports is roughly three times shorter. This has a significant effect on transportation expenses and, in turn, the competitiveness of our products," the minister elaborated.
He concluded by stating that by utilizing the resources of Turkish ports and land transport, it is feasible to considerably lower the prices of goods imported into Armenia and foster a more competitive market.-0-
