Economy ministry: share of industry in Armenian economy by the results of 2011 will be 20-21%

Armenia’s industry will account for 20-21% of the overall GDP in 2011, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said today at a final news conference.
YEREVAN, December 27. /ARKA/. Armenia’s industry will account for 20-21% of the overall GDP in 2011, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan said today at a final news conference.

“It is good that the structure of economy becomes more balanced and proportional as the share of real sector increases. We expect the share of industry in total structure of economy to grow to 20-21%”, he said.

According to the data of the ministry, the industry, including energy, accounted for 14.8% in Armenia’s GDP in 2010. The minister said the overall industrial output in the first 11 months of the year amounted to about 900 billion drams, adding that the figure is set to grow to over one trillion drams next year.

Davtyan also said that contrary to public opinion, growth of industrial indicators is not secured only by the mining and metallurgy.

“This is not the case, we have growth in almost all the spheres. It is mining industry, metallurgy, instrument making, machine tool industry, diamond processing and IT sphere”, he said. Growth rates compared to the same period of the last year were 118.8%, and compared to October - 104.1%.
In the first 11 months industrial products worth 889.5 billion drams were produced, by 13.5% more from a year earlier. ($1- 383.58 drams).—0--
