Electricity generation in Armenia increased by 6.5% to 2.6 billion kWh in January-March

In the first quarter of 2025, Armenia's power plants generated over 2.6 billion kWh of electricity, which is 6.5% more than in the first quarter of 2024, the National Statistical Committee said.

YEREVAN, May 8. /ARKA/. In the first quarter of 2025, Armenia's power plants generated over 2.6 billion kWh of electricity, which is 6.5% more than in the first quarter of 2024, the National Statistical Committee said.

The largest share of generated electricity - 36.2% of the total or 950.1 million kWh - was produced by the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, a y/o/y increase of 0.3%.

The thermal power plants produced 857.5 million kWh, a decrease of 18.6% (32.7% of the total), and the hydroelectric power plants produced 514.5 million kWh, an increase of 66.3% (19.6%).

Solar power plants produced 11.5% of the total (302.5 million kWh, up 97.3%), and wind power plants produced 0.2 million kWh, a drop of 71.9%.

Since 2023, the volumes of electricity production also include the electricity produced by autonomous energy producers. -0-
