Electricity generation in Armenia up 4.6% to 7.6 billion kWh in January-October
YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. In January-October 2024, Armenia generated 7,619.3 million kWh of electricity, a 4.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.
The largest share of generated electricity, 26.9%, comes from thermal power plants, with a generation volume of 2,813.3 million kWh, a decrease of 7.5%. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant accounts for 29.1% of the total, with a generation volume of 2,218.3 million kWh, an increase of 5.3%. Hydroelectric power plants contribute 22.1%, with a generation volume of 1,681.0 million kWh, an increase of 15.3%.
Solar power plants (with a share of 11.9%) produced 905.7 million kWh of electricity during the reporting period, marking a 33% increase. Wind power plants (with a share of 0.02%) generated 1.0 million kWh, a decrease of 38%.
Since 2023, the volumes of electricity production also include the electricity produced by autonomous energy producers in terms of electricity transfers.
