Electricity generation increased by 8.8% to 1.6 billion kWh in first two months of this year

In January-February 2025, Armenia generated 1,642.3 million kWh of electricity, which is 8.8% more than in January-February 2024, according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

YEREVAN, April 8. /ARKA/. In January-February 2025, Armenia generated 1,642.3 million kWh of electricity, which is 8.8% more than in January-February 2024, according to data published by the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.

The largest share of generated electricity—36.3%—came from thermal power plants, which produced 733.4 million kWh, an increase of 11.6%. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant accounted for 35.8% of the total generation, producing 625.7 million kWh, an increase of 2.3%. Hydroelectric power plants contributed 18.4% of the total generation, with 192.0 million kWh, marking a significant increase of 70.9%.

Solar power plants, with a share of 9.5%, produced 78.9 million kWh of electricity over the two months, reflecting a growth of 86.7%. Wind power plants, however, produced only 0.4 million kWh (a share of 0.02%), experiencing a decrease of 75.3%.

Since 2023, the total electricity production figures have also included the electricity produced by autonomous energy producers in terms of electricity flows.
