The essence and content of the Eurasian Economic Union are solely economic, and social and political aspects of the union are focused on improvement of living conditions in the organization’s member countries, Tigran Sargsyan, the chairman of the union board, said Saturday at a round-table discussion.

The essence and content of the Eurasian Economic Union are solely economic, and social and political aspects of the union are focused on improvement of living conditions in the organization’s member countries, Tigran Sargsyan, the chairman of the union board, said Saturday at a round-table discussion.
In his words, political, geopolitical and cultural component can’t be absent from a large organization, such as the Eurasian Economic Union. But its essence and content are solely economic.
Misperception and too emotional perception of the Eurasian Economic Union, he said, are not always resulted from political nature of the mater, but very often they come from insufficient awareness of the union, which give rise to distrust and prejudice.
Speaking about prospects for the Eurasian Economic Union’s cooperation with third countries and other unions, Sargsyan pointed out particular current processes in this area, particularly the organization’s talks with some countries for signing free trade agreements with them.
Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union on January 2, 2015. The other members of the union are Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. --0---
