YEREVAN, 12 October. /ARKA/. The EU will provide the Armenian government with an additional €30 million in budgetary support to share its financial burden of supporting Armenian refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh and contribute to the implementation of reforms, the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vasilis Maragos said today speaking at the conference ‘Crossroads of Peace: Uniting Security and Democracy’ in Yerevan.

He recalled that on 22 July it was announced that Armenia will receive €10 million from the EU's European Peace Facility.

‘This will strengthen your capabilities, especially in terms of participation in peacekeeping missions,’ Maragos noted.

Earlier, on 5 April, during a meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister and the US Secretary of State, European Commission head Ursula von der Leyen announced that Armenia will receive €270 million in grant support under the Sustainability and Development Support Plan.

‘We hope that this will play an important role in developing business ties with the EU, diversifying Armenia's economy, ensuring sustainable economic development in the region and in the world,’ the EU ambassador said.

According to him, the EU has invested more than 600 million euros in Armenia in the form of grants and loans within the framework of the economic and investment programme, which were aimed at the development of infrastructure, private sector and green economy, forming an investment-friendly platform.

‘We are also working with Armenia in the field of nuclear and aviation security. These are the results of our joint work,’ Maragos emphasised.-0-
