YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) granted Armenia a tariff exemption on the import of up to 7,500 tons of certain types of cattle meat in 2026, providing for an exemption from import customs duties.
According to the EEC, the measure is targeted and requires confirmation of the intended purpose of the imported products.
Other EAEU member countries also received exemptions.
EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev noted that the decision is balanced and aimed at supporting the meat processing industry. He added that the measure will not negatively impact the domestic beef market and will not create additional risks for the implementation of investment projects in beef cattle farming.
He also emphasized that the use of similar tariff incentives previously helped ensure the availability of meat products and curb the rate of growth of consumer prices.
