Eurasian Economic Commission chairman names 2018 achievements

In an interview with Moscow-based MIR 24 TV channel the chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive arm of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Tigran Sargsyan said in 2018 EEU had signed two important documents - a trade and economic agreement with China, and a provisional agreement on the formation of free trade zones with Iran.

YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/.In an interview with Moscow-based MIR 24 TV channel the chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive arm of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Tigran Sargsyan said in 2018 EEU had signed two important documents - a trade and economic agreement with China, and a provisional agreement on the formation of free trade zones with Iran.
He also recalled the signing of two memorandums of cooperation with two regional associations - the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (АSEАN) and MERCASOR in Latin America, adding that a fruitful cooperation with Singapore, Israel, Egypt and India is underway to create free trade zones.
According to Sargsyan, the most important achievement of last year was the creation of free access of goods to the common EEU market.
Another achievement last year was the formation of a unified approach to the creation of a common product labeling system as a mechanism to combat shadow trade, especially in textile and light industry products.
Sargsyan also mentioned the initiative to form a labor exchange that will allow effectively solving employment issues and making migration flows more rational.
Speaking about trends in the market of petroleum products and energy, Sargsyan noted that in addition to bilateral contracts, EEU member –countries are tending to creation of specialized exchanges where professional participants could buy and sell petroleum products or electricity.
Sargsyan said also that settlements in national currencies among EEU member states are gradually increasing, while settlements in foreign currencies are falling. -0-
