Every sixth employer surveyed in Russia hires migrant workers- study

YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/. Every sixth employer surveyed in Russia hires migrant workers, most often citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, according to the findings of a study conducted by the online-recruiting platform Headhunter, TASS news agency reported.
The survey conducted from March 18 to April 3, 2023 involved 2,198 Russian job seekers and 483 employers.
"The hh.ru survey showed that 16% of Russian employers surveyed hire migrant workers. In most cases (76%) such employers hire up to 10 people per month. Another 13% of employers are ready to hire up to 20 foreign workers. 9% of companies usually hire more than 20 people a month," according to the findings.
The study says that Russian employers mostly employ citizens of Uzbekistan (56% of companies), Tajikistan (55%) and Kyrgyzstan (53%).
At the same time, some 70% of the surveyed companies indicated that they do not hire labor migrants.
According to the surveys, 61% of Russian employers hire labor migrants for jobs, which do not require specialized skills.
Also 59% of companies are ready to hire migrants for positions requiring physical labor. Migrant workers need to provide documents necessary for legal employment in Russia, they should also speak, read and write in Russian.
Every tenth employer requests educational documents from foreign citizens, for 5% of companies it is also important to have recommendations from past jobs. -0-
