Exports of products of Armenian origin recorded 14 per cent decline in the first quarter - Finance Ministry

YEREVAN, 7 June. /ARKA/.. Exports of products of Armenian origin in the first three months of 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, recorded a 14.3 per cent decline, Armenian Deputy Finance Minister Vahan Sirunyan said today.
" As for the export of goods, the growth was 2.7 times higher than in the same period of 2023. Nevertheless, in the first three months of 2024, exports of products of Armenian origin decreased by 14.3 per cent,’ Sirunyan said, speaking in parliament.
The high growth, according to the deputy minister, was due to the re-export of gold jewellery, most of which went to the UAE.
At the same time, imports grew 75.8 per cent in January-March 2024 compared to 2023. However, excluding the impact of re-exports, a decline of 9.2 per cent was actually recorded.
According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia's foreign trade turnover in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023 increased 2.1 times to $9.2 billion, with exports rising 2.7 times to $4.4 billion and imports reaching $4.7 billion, with an increase of 75.8 per cent compared to January-March 2023. -0-
