Fifty companies representing tourism and recreation sectors are showcasing their products and services at "Tourism, Leisure and Entertainment" international fair that kicked off today in Armenia’s capital city.

YEREVAN, April 4. / ARKA /. Fifty companies representing tourism and recreation sectors are showcasing their products and services at "Tourism, Leisure and Entertainment" international fair that kicked off today in Armenia’s capital city.
Armand Zakarian , director of Prom EXPO LLS, the organizer of the exhibition, said at the opening ceremony that although this is the first such exhibition in Armenia, the participants, including travel agencies, air ticket offices, hotels, motels and representatives of a number of festivals, had done a great deal of work to get prepared for it.
Mekhak Apresyan, head of an economy ministry department in charge of tourism, said the main goal of this sector is diversification and development of alternative tourism products. He said any tourism fair in Armenia will contribute to this objective.
"We hope that the number of participating companies in this exhibition will be growing with every year ," he said.
According to the National Statistical Service, the number of foreign tourists visiting Armenia in 2013 increased by 9.7 % to 924,965 people. The number of Armenian tourists visiting other countries as tourists also increased by 12.3% to 906,154 people. -0-
