First wine guide in Armenia released
YEREVAN, June 5. /ARKA/. The presentation of the first wine guide in Armenia took place Friday in Yerevan.

Anik Petrosyan, the author of the guide, said this first publication contains information about ancient wine-making culture in Armenia and about present-day varieties of wine.

Avag Harutyunyan, the chairman of the Association of Winemakers of Armenia, on his side, stressed the importance of this book in the context of the country's huge winemaking potential.

«Armenia has huge capacity and opportunity to become one of winemaking industry leaders in the region, and therefore such guides that tell about our country's wine are very important,» he said.

Harutyunyan also stressed that such books are also very important for attracting investments in this industry.

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, 1,820,300 liters of wine were produced in the country in Jan-Apr 2015 – 17.1% year-on-year growth.

Armenia produces some 6 million liters of wine every year for both domestic consumption and export, mainly to Russia. --0----
