Food products in Armenia in May increased in price by 7.4% over a year, and by 0.5% over a month

YEREVAN, June 4. /ARKA/. Prices for food products and soft drinks in May 2025 compared to May 2024 increased by 5.2%, and by 1.2% over a month. This is evidenced by the data of the report of the National Statistical Committee of Armenia.
Bakery products and cereals in April increased in price by 3.3% over a year, and by 0.8% over a month.
At the same time, pasta in May increased in price by 3.2% (an increase of 2.6% over a month), bread - by 3.9% (an increase of 0.7%), flour - by 6.9% (an increase of 1.6%). Wheat groats fell in price by 4.9% (up 2% over the month), and buckwheat by 7.1% (down 0.7%).
In May, meat increased in price by 1.1% over the year, and by 0.2% over the month. At the same time, beef in May increased in price by 0.8% year-on-year (down 0.1% over the month), pork by 1.1% (up 1%), and lamb by 2.9% (up 0.5%).
Prices for fish and seafood in May 2024 compared to May 2023 increased by 20.2%, with no changes compared to April of the same year. At the same time, trout increased in price by 22.1% during the reporting period, and fell in price by 0.1% over the month. Prices in the Dairy Products, Cheese and Eggs group fell by 2.3% year-on-year in May and by 0.1% month-on-month. At the same time, ice cream rose in price by 4% year-on-year in May (up 3% month-on-month), cheese fell by 2.8% (up 0.2%), and eggs fell in price by 4.3% (down 0.4%).
Goods in the Oils and Fats group rose in price by 12.9% year-on-year in May, and there were no changes month-on-month. At the same time, butter rose in price by 13.1% (up 0.2% month-on-month), margarine by 0.3% (up 0.9%), and sunflower vegetable oil by 15.2% (down 0.1%).
Fruits rose in price by 13.4% year-on-year in May and by 3.5% month-on-month. In the Vegetables group, prices in May increased by 29% year-on-year, and decreased by 0.2% month-on-month.
In the Sugar, Fruit Puree, Honey, Syrups, Chocolate and Sugar Confectionery group, prices increased by 6.2% year-on-year in May, and by 0.9% month-on-month. At the same time, sugar and granulated sugar fell in price by 3.1% in May compared to May (an increase of 0.6%), and chocolate rose in price by 14.1% (an increase of 0.9%).
In the Coffee, Tea, Cocoa group, prices increased by 13.8% in May of this year compared to May of last year, and by 0.3% compared to April of this year. Coffee increased in price by 14.9% year-on-year in May (an increase of 0.3% month-on-month), cocoa by 20.9% (an increase of 1%). Prices for mineral or spring water, as well as bottled drinking water in May increased by 2.8% year-on-year, and by 1.1% month-on-month.
Alcoholic beverages in May by 4.4% compared to May, and by 0.2% compared to April. At the same time, vodka in May increased in price by 5.5% compared to May (an increase of 0.2% month-on-month), wine by 1.5% (an increase of 0.1%), beer by 1.1% (an increase of 0.2%).
Tobacco products in May increased in price year-on-year by 6.7% (an increase of 0.5% month-on-month).
At the same time, according to statistics, in the non-food market in May of this year, compared to May of last year, prices decreased by 0.1%, and compared to April of the same year, they increased by 0.1%.
In Armenia, in May 2025, compared to May 2024, inflation was recorded at 4.3%, and for the month - at 0.3%. -0-
