Food prices drop by 3.9% in 2018 June

Prices of foods and non-alcoholic beverages in June 2018 dropped by 3.9% in Armenia when compared to the previous month, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

YEREVAN, July 6. /ARKA/. Prices of foods and non-alcoholic beverages in June 2018 dropped by 3.9% in Armenia when compared to the previous month, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

According to the NSC, the decline in food prices was driven by a 26.5% decline in vegetable prices. Compared with June 2017, prices were down by 22.6% and compared to 2018 May they fell by 26.5%. Fruits fell 16.1% and 1.4%, respectively, the NSC said.

Sugar in June fell by 12.6% and 2.2%, respectively. Prices for dairy products, cheese and eggs did not change year-on-year, but compared to May 2018 they were down by 2.1%. Meat products grew by 8.9% year-on-year, but did not change as opposed to 2018 May.

Prices for fats grew by 15%. Prices for fish and fish products rose by 0.2% from the previous month while prices for alcoholic drinks and cigarettes grew by 1.3%. According to NSC, consumer prices in June grew by 0.9% year-on-year.-0-
