Food prices in Armenia surge 5.6% in December

Prices for foods in Armenia leapt 5.6% in December, compared with November, due to increase in prices for certain products, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports.

YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Prices for foods in Armenia leapt 5.6% in December, compared with November, due to increase in prices for certain products, the National Statistical Service of Armenia reports. Prices for dairy products soared 5.8%, coffee, tea and cocoa 6.1%, fruits 8.3%, sugar 9.6% and vegetables and potatoes 18.2%. Instead, fish products became 0.3% cheaper.
Bread and other bakery products rose 5.9% in December 2014, compared with December 2013, and 4.3%, compared with November 2014.
Eggs climbed 2.1% in December 2014, compared with December 2013, and 4%, compared with November 2014.
Meat products rose 3.3%, compared with December 2013, and 2.3%, compared with November 2014.
Adipose and vegetable fat grew 1.9%, compared with December 2013, and 3.6%, compared with November 2014.
Soft drinks, spirits and cigarettes went 0.3 percent up in December 2014, compared with December 2013, and confectioneries rose 1.2%.
Consumer prices in Armenia surged 3% in December 2014, compared with the previous month. They rose 4.6% in 2014, compared with 2013. In the 2014 government budget, inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%). ---0----
