Food prices slip 3.3% in Armenia in February

Foods in Armenia were 3.3% cheaper in February than in January, Gurgen Martirosyan, chief of the National Statistical Service's price statistics division, told journalists on Thursday.

YEREVAN, March 11. /ARKA/. Foods in Armenia were 3.3% cheaper in February than in January, Gurgen Martirosyan, chief of the National Statistical Service's price statistics division, told journalists on Thursday.
«Prices shed in nine of 13 categories of foods, while in the remaining four groups prices rose,» he said.
In his words, the most significant fall was seen in prices for vegetables and potatoes – 13.4%.
Fruits slid 3.3%, bread 2.6%, fish products 1%, meat products 0.5%, dairy products 0.1% and confectionary products 0.2%.
Sugar prices went 1.2% up, soft drinks 0.1%, coffee, tea and cocoa 0.6% and eggs 0.3%.
Martirosyan said that consumer prices in Armenia slipped 1.4% in January, compared with February. Nonfoods slid 0.6%, while services rose 0.3%.
Compared with the previous year's February, consumer prices went 1.7% down. The most significant year-on-year fall in February was seen in foods – 5.9%. Nonfoods slid 0.1% and services 3.4%. --0---
