Prices of food products and non-alcoholic beverages in Armenia in December 2023 were down 4.8% from  December 2022, according to the National Statistical Committee.

YEREVAN, January 9. /ARKA/. Prices of food products and non-alcoholic beverages in Armenia in December 2023 were down 4.8% from December 2022, according to the National Statistical Committee.

According to official data, pasta became cheaper by 11.7%, buckwheat - by 24.6%, flour - by 19.9%, peas - by 17.8%, spelt - by 7.5%, bulgur - by 6.9%, wheat groats - by 6.2%, lobi - by 3.9%, bread - by 7.3%, while confectionery rose in price by 0.3%.

Meat fell in price by 1%. At the same time, poultry meat went up by 0.6%. Prices for fish and seafood decreased by 5.6%.

Cheese fell in price by 6.8%, cottage cheese rose in price by 0.4%, matzun upped by 0.5%, sour cream - by 1%, fresh milk - by 3.1%, while eggs fell in price by 0.2%.

Margarine fell in price by 23.1%, butter by 5.7%, and sunflower oil by 30.6%. Fruits rose in price by 0.7% in December on a year-over-year basis. Vegetables decreased by 6.6% year-on-year

At the same time, sugar fell in price by 6.1%, while chocolate decreased in price by 5.4%.

Coffee, tea and cocoa rose in price by 0.3%. Prices for mineral or spring water, as well as bottled drinking water rose by 2.9% year-on-year. Alcoholic beverages went up in price by 6%. At the same time, vodka went up by 8.3%, wine - by 1.7%, beer - by 2.6%. Tobacco products increased in price by 11.5% on an annualized basis. At the same time, according to statistical data, in the non-food market inflation amounted to 0.1% in December 2023 compared to December 2022.

Armenia registered deflation of 0.6% in December 2023 as compared to December 2022 -0-
