YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. A cargo train from the Volgograd Region sent grain to Armenia for the first time by rail.
The Privolzhsky Railway press service told Volzhsky.ru that the wheat cars departed from the Gmelinskaya station in the Volgograd Region. They will be delivered to Yerevan station via Azerbaijan.
The first shipment consisted of eight grain cars. A total of over 2,000 tons of wheat—30 grain cars—is planned to be shipped to Armenia by the end of 2025.
The new logistics service became available following the decision to resume cargo transit to Armenia via Azerbaijan. This is the first time such rail transportation has been possible since the 1990s.
