Forest to be planted in Yerevan
YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's Prosecutor General, Anna Vardapetyan, proposed planting a forest on state-owned land next to the Yerevan TV Tower.
During Thursday's government meeting, Vardapetyan announced the project's plan to allocate an additional 1.7-hectare plot of land next to the tower to the Ministry of Environment.
She stated that the cadastral value of the plot, which is close to the market value, is 1 billion 44 million drams, equivalent to 2,686,000 US dollars.
"This is the fifth plot of land next to the TV tower whose ownership has been restored in Armenia as a result of the Prosecutor General’s Office's successful court claim," Vardapetyan noted.
Four plots had previously been returned to the state: the first, about one hectare, valued at 366 million drams; the second, 0.6 hectares, valued at 254 million drams; the third, 1.7 hectares, valued at 654 million drams; and the fourth, also 1.7 hectares, valued at 646 million drams.
Vardapetyan said she sent a letter to the Minister of Environment proposing the creation of an "oxygen zone" in the area. This would involve installing an irrigation system and planting a forest to improve the quality of life for Yerevan residents.
"Today, two of the four plots have already been transferred to the Ministry of Environment. The third plot has been allocated within the framework of this program, and two more are planned to be transferred in the near future," she said.
She also said that, as a result of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia's satisfied claims, about seven hectares of land, with a total cadastral value of approximately three billion drams (US$7.8 million), were returned to the state in the area adjacent to the Yerevan TV Tower. —0—
