YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/. Armenia should develop its own industry to be able to deepen its trade relations with Iran, Ruben Galichyan, a historian and cartographic engineer, said Tuesday at a news conference.
«Armenia's industry doesn't develop, especially given that those lawmakers who have businesses focus their businesses on imports – they are not interested in developing industry here,» he said.
Therefore, he said, those people trying to develop industry in Armenia, including Armenians from Iran, face major problems.
Galichyan said that although tax agencies declare they take measures to create a favorable investment environment for overseas Armenians, but very often upon making upfront investments they receive demands to pay taxes beforehand.
Expansion of Iran's economic ties with the world became possible after on July 14 six international mediators – the United States, Russia, China, the Great Britain, France and Germany – signed an agreement with Iran for lifting economic sanctions in exchange for restrictions in Iran’s national nuclear program and IAEA experts' access to Iranian military bases. ---0----
