Gegharkunik province has made significant progress in the field of agriculture this year, provincial governor Rafik Grigoryan told a cabinet session today held in Gavar, the administrative capital of the region.
GAVAR, October 31. / ARKA /. Gegharkunik province has made significant progress in the field of agriculture this year, provincial governor Rafik Grigoryan told a cabinet session today held in Gavar, the administrative capital of the region.
According to him, production of potatoes has increased by 6.6% compared with 2012, grain production has upped 3.3 % and that of vegetables has risen by 5.5%.
He said production of meat, milk and honey is expected to see a 5.3 % rise before the end of the year.
The region has stored also 250,000 tons of forage for winter. In 2012 the region’s agricultural output amounted to 161 billion drams, which was 0.5 % more than in 2011.
The governor said one of the priorities are protection of Sevan Lake environment. He added the region’s has 35,00 pensioners , of whom 14,317 are retirees with different degrees of disability. ( $ 1-405 , 30 drams). -0-
