Government approves plan of actions to secure normal operation of energy system

The Armenian government has approved today a plan of actions and a timetable to implement its Energy Security Concept designed for 2014-2020. Under the plan of actions, the energy system is to comply with international standards.

YEREVAN, July 31. / ARKA /. The Armenian government has approved today a plan of actions and a timetable to implement its Energy Security Concept designed for 2014-2020. Under the plan of actions, the energy system is to comply with international standards.
Speaking at the Cabinet session, energy and natural resources minister Yervand Zahkaryan said the list of measures is designed to reduce the high level of physical and moral deterioration of power generating facilities’ equipment and machinery, to extend the service life of the nuclear power plant for 10 years and to raise the level of safety of hydraulic structures.
According to him, there are still many problems related to level of safety, reduction of risks and improvement of the quality of energy services.
He said medium-and long-term programs will be designed to secure normal operation of the energy system and its compliance with international standards. -0-
