Gross production in Armenia's agricultural, forestry and fish farming sectors up 2% to AMD 665bn in 9 months
YEREVAN, 6 November. /ARKA/. The production volume of agriculture, forestry and fish farming in Armenia in January-September 2024 compared to the same period of 2023 increased by 2% and made up more than 664.8 billion drams in current prices, the National Statistical Committee reports.
The volume of agricultural products increased by 1.8% and totaled more than 628.6 billion drams. Of this volume, about 354 billion drams was accounted for crop production. 2% more than last year, and 274.6 billion drams were contributed by animal husbandry, 1.5 per cent more.
Also, 69,200 tons of meat and poultry were sold with an 8% increase, as well as 493,700 tons of milk (down 3.2%) and 587.6 million eggs (down 3.8%).
During the reporting period, 221,100 tons of cereals and leguminous crops were grown (down 22.9%), 173,300 tons of potatoes (down 8.1%), 502,300 tons of vegetables (up 2.4%), 119,200 tons of melons (up 17.9%), 226,000 tons of fruits and berries (down 8.1%) and 122,100 tons of grapes (up 10.5%).
In the forestry sector, gross output in January-September totaled AMD 1.6 billion (down 5.6%) and in the fishery sector - AMD 34.5 billion (up 6.2%). ($1 - 387.36 drams) -0-
