YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. For the first time in its history, the number of registered workers receiving salaries exceeded 800,000 in September 2025, announced Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today.

"This number reached 805,687 individuals, reflecting a 4.8% increase compared to September 2024. Since September 2018, over 222,000 jobs have been generated in Armenia," Pashinyan stated during a government meeting.

At the conclusion of December 2024, the Armenian government sanctioned the Employment Strategy for 2025-2031, which primarily aims to address unemployment. As noted by Narek Mkrtchyan, the then Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, research indicates that a segment of the potentially employable population is uncompetitive and lacks the requisite skills to satisfy the demands of the contemporary labor market.

The strategy's target demographic encompasses residents of regional cities, youth who are neither studying nor employed, women aged 30-39, and recipients of family and social assistance.

As previously mentioned by Babken Tunyan, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, the authorities intend to lower the unemployment rate to below 10%.
