YEREVAN, May 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government approved the appointment of Hovik Abovyan as governor of Tavush region of Armenia at its sitting Thursday.

Abovyan was a parliament deputy in the period from 2002 to 2007.

Earlier, Armen Gularyan has resigned Tavush governor’s post, and his resignation was approved by the government.

The premier Hovik Abrahamyan said at the sitting the ex-governor will transfer to another job.

Gularyan was one of the long-livers among Armenian governors and had been in the office since February 1999.

According to mass media allegations, Gularyan will be appointed either deputy minister of urban planning or as head of state-run estate cadastre committee. –0—
