IMF to help new Armenian government to implement reforms

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will help the new Armenian government to implement effective economic reforms, said Yulia Ustyugova, the IMF Resident Representative to Armenia at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today, the government press office reported.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will help the new Armenian government to implement effective economic reforms, said Yulia Ustyugova, the IMF Resident Representative to Armenia at a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today, the government press office reported.
Ustyugova was said to have highly appreciated the stability of Armenia's financial system stressing that in this aspect the country can be cited as an example.
She presented to the Prime Minister the status of programs being implemented by the IMF in Armenia and the next steps in this direction.
In turn, Pashinyan noted the importance of close cooperation with the IMF and the support provided by it to Armenia in reforming the economy. He stressed that one of the priorities of the government is to increase the efficiency of spending of the programs being implemented, as well as to strengthen financial discipline.
They were said to have also exchanged views on the new government program, including reforms in the tax and customs areas and the proposed pension system reforms. There was also an exchange of views on a number of other issues related to Armenia-IMF cooperation. -0-
