YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan, speaking Friday at the opening ceremony of the third international forum of graduates of the Moscow Stare Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in Yerevan, said a more intensive involvement of Iran in economic processes will increase the entire region's economic attractiveness.
Iran, with the new prospects that became feasible after an accord on Iran's nuclear program was reached, is among the issues on the forum's agenda.
«This arrangement is important not only for strengthening stability and security, but also as a circumstance that pave the way for establishing mutually beneficial regional and international cooperation,» Nalbandyan said. «I would like to say that today we are working with our Iranian colleagues in some promising directions.»
As a whole, he said, international economic integration processes are among the international community's top focuses.
«The Eurasian Economic Union started functioning in the beginning of this year, and Armenia is one of its members,» the minister said. «We take as a premise that the four freedoms on which the Eurasian Economic Union is based – commodity, services, capital and human resources movement freedoms – give an additional impetus to development of the union member countries' economies.»
The third international forum of graduates of MGIMO hosted by Yerevan on October 22-24 has brought to the Armenian capital city some 300 graduates from 50 countries. The event features also an exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Lazarev Institute of Oriental Languages in Moscow (established in 1815 by the Armenian Lazarev family) and a stamp cancellation issued for the occasion by Armenia’s national postal operator Haypost.
The event is a joint initiative of the Association of MGIMO Graduates, Armenian Club of MGIMO Graduates and MGIMO Development Foundation.
The first international forum of MGIMO graduates was held in 2013 in Azerbaijan and the second in Moscow. -0----
