YEREVAN, January 9. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan admitted on Monday that there were problems at the Armenian National Interest Fund (ANIF), but did not disclose details.

The Armenian National Interest Fund is a state-owned enterprise aimed at co-investing with leading global investors and industrial partners in large-scale projects in Armenia.

Kerobyan told a press conference that as early as early last year, a study conducted at the Armenian National Interest Foundation revealed certain problems with accountability, transparency and corporate governance.

'In response, the government reviewed the Fund's mandate and its management capabilities." he said.

According to Kerobyan, although KPMG provided a clean audit report, the ministry felt that it did not accurately reflect ANIF's financial results and sent its comments to the Fund's management.

"After that, a decision was made to change the NAIF management," Kerobyan said.

The minister noted that he would not like to give an assessment of what happened now, but promised that he would do so after receiving full information.

Earlier, the Fund's General Director Davit Papazian was fired, and ANIF Board of Directors Chairman Dominique de Villepin was replaced by Ani Ispiryan.

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan's Chief of Staff Edgar Mkrtchyan and Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan's Chief of Staff Arman Adilkhanyan were appointed as new members of ANIF's Board of Directors. -0-
