Liquefied gas prices in Armenia have increased by 1.6-1.8 times. regulator figured out the reasons
YEREVAN, July 31. /ARKA/. The Commission for the Protection of Competition of Armenia has conducted a study of the liquefied gas market, taking into account the recent increase in prices for it.
According to open information, the retail price of liquefied gas has increased from approximately 100-120 drams to 180-200 drams per liter (approximately 1.6-1.8 times) over the past 4-5 weeks.
"There are no dominant players in this market, and the price increase is due to an increase in costs and the balance between supply and demand," the Commission reported.
As a result of the study, experts found that more than 170 economic entities currently import liquefied gas to the Republic of Armenia, of which the share of the largest importer does not exceed 7%. At the same time, 9 economic entities have a market share of about 3% in the import volume.
The Commission found that the increase in liquefied gas prices in July 2025 was due to the following circumstances:
- an increase in the purchase price of liquefied gas,
- logistical problems recorded in Georgia,
- seasonality due to a decrease in the number of trucks entering the RA due to congestion at the border,
- seasonal growth in demand, which exceeded supply.
Earlier, Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan spoke about the problem in the liquefied gas market, calling on the Commission for the Protection of Competition to study this issue.
