YEREVAN, October 23. /ARKA/. Liberalization of aviation in Armenia may drive air ticket prices ten percent down, Armenian Economy Minister Vahram Avanesyan said at a briefing on Wednesday after the Cabinet’s session which approved a program of actions to develop air traffic.

He said referring to international experts’ opinion that a full liberalization of aviation may create 18,000 to 23,000 of new jobs and ensure a 20-to-30-percent growth in passenger and cargo transportation.

“Of course, this will come not immediately – I think at least one year is needed to achieve these indicators,” he added.

On April 1, 2013, Armavia, the only national air company of Armenia, stopped operating flights and launched its bankruptcy procedure.

Later, the Armenian government approved the strategy of a stage-by-stage liberalization of this area.
The document implies at least three air companies in Armenia. ----0----
