Mirzoyan: The United States will not oversee a segment of the Trump route traversing Armenia

YEREVAN, August 28. /ARKA/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the Americans will not oversee the section of the roadway through Armenia as part of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.

"No third party will have control over this section. The responsibilities for control and security lie with the Republic of Armenia, and this is not a matter of contention," he remarked during a broadcast on the Public Television of Armenia.

He further indicated that no agreement has been reached regarding this issue.

"Our aim is to transform Armenia into a hub of cooperation rather than a battleground of conflicting interests, fostering a conducive environment within the nation. Peace is not merely theoretical; we experience it in our daily lives. In terms of unblocking infrastructure, we have established the guiding principles for this process - territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity. The Washington Declaration emphasizes that Armenia and the United States must work together to implement the TRIPP program," Mirzoyan emphasized.

He added that both parties need to mutually agree on selecting another third partner, a firm that will undertake the construction and management, rather than control.

"We have not reached any further agreements. We anticipate that a delegation from the United States will arrive shortly, bringing ideas and proposals. I am hopeful that we will swiftly reach a mutual understanding regarding the mechanisms for executing the project," Mirzoyan concluded.

The seven-point declaration, which was signed following the trilateral meeting involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington, includes the initialing of the 'Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan', a joint application to the OSCE regarding the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group mechanisms, the unblocking of regional communications based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of nations, and the 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity' project.-0-
