YEREVAN, March 17. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will finance the construction of at least 1,417 new houses in several border and non-border settlements as part of a state program. This was announced by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a discussion with Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan.
The program provides support (quota) in the amount of 16 million drams.
The Minister of Social Affairs announced that the program is designed for three groups of beneficiaries. The first group consists of approximately 400 citizens who have not previously benefited from the program. "This applies to citizens who meet all the program criteria and received a construction permit before May 1, 2025, as well as those who purchased a land plot or registered ownership of it between January 1, 2024 and May 1, 2025," Torosyan said.
As for the second group, according to the minister, it will include settlements where less than 10% of the population has built homes—774 new quotas are allocated for them. In addition to the basic conditions of the program, it stipulates that at least one spouse must have been registered in the settlement within the last 12 months. This will contribute to balanced territorial development, the minister noted.
The prime minister noted that housing construction under the new quotas is planned in several communities in the Tavush, Syunik, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Lori regions.
Regarding the third group, Torosyan stated that the program will be resumed in communities where schools built or under construction under the "300 Schools" program are experiencing student enrollment issues (vacancies exceed 50%).
According to him, 243 quotas are planned to be allocated to bring the occupancy rate to 20%. In addition to the basic program requirements, families must have at least one child under 10 years old. ($1 - 377.4 drams).
