YEREVAN, June 17. /ARKA/. More than 30 countries and organizations are interested in establishing economic relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Tigran Sargsyan, the head of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of EEU, said in a televised interview with Russian Vesti news program.
"Many countries have expressed interest in working with us. We have already signed memoranda with Singapore and Cambodia, and a free trade zone agreement with Vietnam. We have set up joint task forces to negotiate with India, Egypt and, Israel, ‘said Sargsyan.
According to Tigran Sargsyan, the priority is China. "It is no secret that China is promoting its global projects, and especially the one called " Silk Road ," which includes transportation, financial and digital infrastructure," he said.
"China has a huge number of constraints, limitations, regulations that are very difficult to overcome, and we should seize the opportunity of the negotiation process, to use our businesses in order to get as many preferences and favorable conditions as possible for entering the Chinese market," said Sargsyan.
He also spoke about EEU’s desire to establish good relations with the European Union, saying the same interest is seen on the other side. In particular, he recalled that the economic summit in St. Petersburg has brought to Russia representatives of major multinational companies.
"They want to meet with us to negotiate our common markets, the existing technical regulations, wanting to build relations today, because after we finalize the regulations framework, making changes will be more difficult,' said Sargsyan. -0-
