Net foreign direct investment in Armenia’s real sector in 9 months amount to 59.8 billion drams

The amount of total net foreign direct investments (FDI) in Armenia’s real sector economy in the first 9 months of 2018 amounted to 59.8 billion drams, up from 57 billion drams in the first 9 months of 201, according to the numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

YEREVAN, November 30. /ARKA/. The amount of total net foreign direct investments (FDI) in Armenia’s real sector economy in the first 9 months of 2018 amounted to 59.8 billion drams, up from 57 billion drams in the first 9 months of 2017, according to the numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
It said the bulk of foreign direct investment - 20.6 billion drams - came from the British Isle of Jersey, one of the so-called "tax havens." The figure was down from 58.8 billion drams in the first 9 months of 2017.
Also 14.3 billion drams FDI came from Germany, 11.8 billion drams from Russia, 3.4 billion drams from Lebanon, 1.78 billion drams from the USA, 1.76 billion drams from Cyprus, 1.72 billion drams from Argentina and 1.31 billion drams from the UK.
The FDI were channeled into the mining industry (30.9 billion drams), electricity and gas - 6.5 billion drams, metal ore mining - 5.1 billion drams, wholesale trade (excluding cars) - 3 billion drams, real estate - 4.7 billion drams, beverage production - 2.7 billion drams and construction - 2 billion drams ($ 1 - 485, 09 drama). -0-
