YEREVAN, 31 May. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has decided to build a new tunnel in the neighbourhood of Dilijan city in Tavush region, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Kristine Kalechyan said on Friday.
According to her, design projects will be prepared for the Pushkin and Dilijan tunnels, as the situation is unsatisfactory in terms of safety.
The deputy minister noted that the ministry has assigned the preparation of the projects to private foreign firms and will pay for them from the funds saved from the implementation of the projects financed by the loan.
According to Ghalechyan, the Pushkin tunnel will be completely renovated and a new tunnel will be built in Dilijan.
She noted that the projects should be prepared by the end of the year.
‘The start of construction is scheduled for early 2025, taking into account the provision of high standards of safety, ventilation, lighting,’ the deputy minister said. -0-
