YEREVAN, April 2. /ARKA/. The principle of consensus is fundamental in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and no decision will be made there contrary to the interests of Armenia as a member, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated in an interview with TASS.

"When making decisions within our common economic integration association—the Eurasian Economic Union—the principle of consensus applies. Armenia's voice is equal to that of Russia and all other member states of this association, regardless of the size of their economies and countries. No decision will be made within the EAEU if it does not meet Armenia's interests," Overchuk emphasized.

Furthermore, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Russia does not hinder Armenia's search for new partners and expansion of foreign markets, including through the United States and the European Union.

"We ourselves propose to continue developing and earning together, and this requires our businesses to be able to operate there, just as Armenian businesses can operate here. We've been told that the presence of Russian businesses is preventing Armenia from realizing its competitive advantages," he noted.

"At the same time, Russia has opened its market to Armenian goods, services, capital, and labor. This is evidenced by the figures characterizing the closeness of our countries and peoples," the Russian Deputy Prime Minister noted.

In this regard, Overchuk reiterated that the principles of equality and reciprocity form the foundation for building international relations.
