Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has appointed first deputy transport minister Oleg Belozerov as the new head of Russia's state railway monopoly, Tass news agency reported on Thursday.

YEREVAN, August 20. / ARKA /. Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev has appointed first deputy transport minister Oleg Belozerov as the new head of Russia's state railway monopoly, Tass news agency reported on Thursday.

"I have decided to appoint you as the head of the Russian Railways whilst simultaneously releasing you from the post of deputy minister of transport of the Russian Federation," Tass quoted Medvedev as telling Belozerov.

Belozerov has replaced Vladimir Yakunin, who announced on Monday his plan to leave his post to become a senator.

Oleg Belozerov, a graduate of St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finance is 46. He held positions at various government agencies. He was appointed deputy minister of transport in 2009 and was promoted to the position of first deputy minister in 2015 May.-0-.
