YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. "Karas" chain restaurant in central Yerevan has been temporarily closed due to unsanitary conditions, the press service of the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia reported.

During an inspection, agency inspectors found violations of sanitary rules and hygiene standards at the Karas catering facility, owned by AMTJ LLC (Yerevan, 19 Tumanyan Street).

In particular:

- The ceiling had damaged areas, which contributed to the accumulation of dirt, steam condensation, and the growth of unwanted mold;

- Certain sections of the kitchen floor were damaged;

- The artificial ventilation system was in poor condition and did not prevent contaminated air from entering the premises;

- One of the exterior windows and the emergency exit door were not equipped with a mosquito net, creating a risk of contaminant penetration;

- The emergency exit and kitchen doors did not have a smooth surface and were not covered with non-absorbent materials that could be cleaned and disinfected;

- The refrigerators, which were in direct contact with food products, were not maintained in good working order.

By decision of the head of the Food Safety Inspectorate, the production activities of the Karas catering facility have been suspended. A deadline has been set for rectifying the identified violations.
