YEREVAN, December 24. /ARKA/. The outgoing year was not easy for agriculture in Armenia, Hrach Berberyan, head of the farmers' association, said Tuesday at a news conference.

«Tomato crop in Ararat Valley halved because of moths, and pepper and eggplant crops shrank 40%,» he said.
Berberyan also said that hailstorms have stricken hard at Armavir province's crops and added that it has not become clear whether it was possible to prevent them by using anti-hail facilities.

Only fruit and wheat crops grew this year.  

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the Jan-Nov agriculture output totaled AMD 857.3 billion showing a 6.1-percent year-on-year growth. Gross agriculture product amounted to AMD 840.4 billion in 2012 – 9.5% more than in 2011. --0---
