Papoyan and Maragos discussed export diversification and investment attractions

YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan received on Tuesday the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Vasilis Maragos, the press service of the ministry reports.
It said the sides discussed a number of issues related to the expansion of Armenia -EU trade and economic cooperation, financial and technical assistance provided by the EU, bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of Eastern Partnership Program.
The sides touched upon the implementation of the provisions stipulated in the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), the processes of rebranding and marketing of the new name of "Armenian Cognac", programs of support to the business sector, the use of the EU Technical Assistance Instruments (TAIEX, Twinning) and other issues.
The interlocutors exchanged thoughts on the priority directions of Armenia's economy, promotion and diversification of exports, attraction of investments, development of capital market, improvement of quality infrastructures, development of agriculture and support programs provided by the EU to this sector.
"The importance was attached to Armenia's commitment to deepening relations with the EU within the framework of the new realities currently emerging and readiness to more actively participate in the regional programs implemented and planned by the EU," the report says.
The minister also presented the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace project and its principles.
After the April 5 meeting in Brussels between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and USAID Chief of Staff Samantha Power EU announced 270 million in grants to Armenia to strengthen its economic resilience in 2024-2027. -0-
