Pashinyan says the document signed in Washington will reopen railway communication with Russia

YEREVAN, August 9. /ARKA/. The document signed in the US will reopen the railway link between Armenia and Russia, which has been closed for 30 years," said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, following his talks in Washington with the leaders of the US and Azerbaijan.
During a press conference in Washington on Saturday, Pashinyan responded to a question about potential threats to communications and Armenia’s relations with Iran and Russia.
He stated, "We can establish railway communication through the 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity' (TRIPP) declaration or independently.'
According to Pashinyan, railway communication through Georgia and Azerbaijan is possible.
He added that Armenia is receiving a railway connection with Iran, which he described as "very important and unprecedented."
"We are also receiving a connection with Central Asia via a ferry (across the Casopian Sea), and China is receiving a new railway connection with the West," he said.
A declaration was signed following the trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington.
The seven-point document includes the initialing of the agreed-upon text of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan by the foreign ministers of the parties, as well as the need to continue actions to sign and ratify it.
The document also calls for the signing of a statement by the foreign ministers of both countries on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Process and related structures.
The document calls for efforts to ensure unimpeded communication between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan through Armenia's territory, based on respect for states' sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction.
Additionally, it requests that Armenia cooperate with the United States and other countries to establish a framework for implementing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity project in Armenia. -0-
