YEREVAN, May 16. /ARKA/. Presenting 100 facts about the 'new Armenia' Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during an online press conference on Saturday that in 2019, the ratio of taxes to GDP amounted to 22.3%, compared to 20.95% in 2018. He said the 1.38% growth translated to 90.7 billion drams of additional tax revenues.

According to Pashinyan, in 2019, the country's 1,000 largest corporate taxpayers paid 1 trillion and 61 billion drams in various taxes, which were by 122 billion drams or 13% more than in 2018, and by 254 billion drams or 31% more compared with 2017.

At the same time, the prime minister emphasized that according to the 2020 first quarter data, the 1000 largest taxpayers paid 246 billion drams in taxes, which is 11.3% more than in the same quarter of 2019 and by 37.4% more than in the first quarter of 2018.

"This is one of the most important achievements of the revolution, since we show that the largest taxpayers, who were commonly called oligarchs before the revolution, used to enjoy a string of privileges. Their tax payments increased significantly, and this can also be considered an achievement," Pashinyan said.

He said part of these funds resulted from natural growth, but another part was achieved by reducing the shadow sector. ($1 - 487.89 drams). -0-
