Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan speaking Tuesday in New York at a meeting with the local Armenian community, said that a seven-percent economic growth is expected in Armenia this year. The country's economy is rallying now, he said, but the seven-percent economic growth is a good indicator, but this is not what the government wants.
In his words, it has become possible to reach such results also thanks to the effective struggle against corruption, elimination of monopolies and liberalization of markets. Pashinyan said that 64,000 new jobs have been crated in Armenia since the victory of the Velvet Revolution in Armenia in May 2018. He said that micro business will be exempted from taxes and the number of jobs is expected to grow spurring the economic development.
