YEREVAN, Dec. 22. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk on Wednesday, the press service of the Armenian government reported.

It quoted Overchuk as saying that bilateral contacts have been quite intensive this year, when a number of Russian companies, who are seriously interested in working in Armenia, visited the country.

Pashinyan and Overchuk were said to speak about the bilateral trade turnover in 2021 and noted with satisfaction the recorded growth. The sides attached also importance to the application of comprehensive efforts for the development of the trade-economic and investment partnership and full realization of the existing potential in this area.

The sides exchanged also views on the prospects of restoration of the transport communication in the South Caucasus, as well as on the activities of the trilateral working group headed by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.

Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan and Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin were in attendance.

Overchuk is heading a Russian delegation that has arrived in Yerevan to take part in a meeting of the Armenian-Russian commission on economic cooperation. The previous meeting of the commission was held in 2019 in Moscow.

Earlier, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan reported that trade turnover between Armenia and Russia in the first half of 2021 amounted to $1.9 billion.

Overchuk is the Russian co-chairman of the trilateral working group to unblock transport communications in the region. Last week he was in Azerbaijan, where he met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on December 18. -0-
