YEREVAN, February 24. /ARKA/. Development of private sector, as well as public administration and judiciary reforms are currently the main directions in EU’s cooperation with Armenia in 2014-2020, head of EU delegation in Armenia ambassador Traian Hristea said.
This cooperation will facilitate economic growth in Armenia, he said in his interview to European Neighborhood InfoCentre.
The main focus will be to enhance economic diversification and competitiveness, strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises especially in rural areas, ensure rights of economic entities, expand management and administration capacities of the government and establish an independent and efficient judiciary, the ambassador said.
A horizontal focus will be placed on civil society support in all these areas, Hristea said.
Like in other countries in Armenia as well, the new European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI) will help strengthen relations and bring tangible benefits both to the EU and Armenia through bilateral, regional and cross-border cooperation programs.
“By applying the “more for more” principle, we expect to provide more support fro those partners genuinely implementing a broad and comprehensive democratization process”, Hristea said. He also said the ENI will help simplify the program development process and focus on key policy objectives to promote cross-border cooperation and closer links with EU internal instruments and policies. –0--
