Prospects for building up Armenia’s exports to Customs Union countries discussed at session in Economy Ministry

YEREVAN, September 6. /ARKA/. Armenia’s economy ministry, under the support from the Industry Development Fund, held a special session on Friday to inform exporters about all the procedures and mechanisms which will promote exports to the Customs Union member countries – Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, the economy ministry’s press office reports. 

  

Representatives of the Eurasian Economic Committee, Russia’s economic development, industry and trade ministries, Russia’s Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, the Russian Federal Customs Service and the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Russia as well as Belarus’ Gosstandart arrived in Yerevan to attend the event.  

Officials from Armenia’s different governing institutions, state-run and private organizations and local enterprises attended the event as well.     

Armenian Economy Minister Vahram Avanesyan and EEC Minister Valery Koreshkov spoke at the session. 

The technical regulations effective in the Customs Union’s territory, obligatory requirements toward goods, bans and restrictions were presented to the meeting participants.   

Some issues related to organization of export of Armenian goods were discussed and necessary explanations were given at the meeting. 

According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, its trade with the Customs Union countries (Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus) amounted to $742.3 million dollars in Jan-July 2013 – 0.3% less than at the same period a year before. 

Armenia’s total trade turnover amounted to $3.2 billion. 

Armenian and Russian presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, made a joint statement after they met in Moscow on Tuesday. The statement has unveiled Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and its intention to take part in formation of Eurasian Economic Union in the future. ---0---
