YEREVAN, November 26. / ARKA /. Re-equipment of laboratories in Armenia for certification and technical assessment of goods will cost $10- $15 million, according to a deputy economy minister Emil Tarasyan.

Speaking at a public discussion today organized by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia to look into the new possibilities for Armenian business community after it joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Tarasyan said a register of such laboratories will be set up, which should be recognized by the EEU member states and the laboratory examinations will be conducted in accordance with its procedures.

Tarasyan noted that a complete inventory of laboratory equipment n Armenia was made already. He said the government will provide a partly financing for establishing such labs in those sectors where their establishment appear to be to costly for business people.

He also said that until such laboratories are set up in Armenia local entrepreneurs will have their goods certified by appropriate labs in other EEU member countries.

"Today, of 66 goods subject to mandatory certification, only 34 technical procedures are approved for Armenia, which will be working along with Armenian technical procedures, of which 17 are new,”  said Tarasyan.

According to him, over the next year Armenian business people could produce goods by Armenian technical procedures only for the domestic market. To be exported they will need to comply with EEU requirement, he said.

He also noted that these requirements will be tightened from 2016, and all local manufacturers will have to comply with the technical procedures applicable across the EEU. -0-
