YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Russia will send another 132 railcars of wheat to Armenia by the end of January 2026 via a new rail route through Azerbaijan and is exploring the possibility of shipping other categories of cargo via this route, TASS reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Transport.

Russia has delivered its first batch of grain to Armenia via Azerbaijan by rail: Russian Railways organized the shipment of over 1,000 tons of wheat from Dimitrovgrad station in the Ulyanovsk region to Armenia. Fifteen grain tankers traveled through Azerbaijan and have already crossed the Georgian-Armenian border. The goods will then be delivered to the Dalarik station of the South Caucasus Railway, the Ministry of Transport announced.

"An additional 132 railcars of wheat are planned to be shipped along this route by the end of January 2026. Shipments of other cargo categories are also being considered," the statement reads.

The new logistics route was made possible by the resumption of cargo transit to Armenia via Azerbaijan. "This is the first such shipment since the 1990s," the Ministry of Transport noted.
