Russian delegation discusses cooperation in Armenia
YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. A Russian delegation led by Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman Alexei Gordeyev is paying an official visit to the Republic of Armenia on June 28-29, the press service of Roskachestvo – the Russian quality system- said today.
It said on Tuesday the Russian delegation had a working meeting with the speaker of Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan and his deputy Hakob Arshakyan to discuss cooperation between the parliaments of both countries.
"The peoples of Russia and Armenia are bound with centuries-old friendship. We cooperate in many directions, and further strengthening of such partnership is in the interests of both sides,' Gordeyev said.
He recalled that Armenia and Russia are celebrating this year the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Aid and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
On the same day the Russian delegation had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan to look into expansion of cooperation in industry and agriculture, as well as increasing commodity turnover.
In just four months of 2022 the trade between Russia and Armenia increased by 30% to over $890 million.
"In 2021, the bilateral trade exceeded the pre-covid level increasing by 12.7%. In the first quarter of this year, the trade was up 25% compared to the first quarter of 2021. These are very good indicators. We keep working together to develop the economies of our countries," said Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Alexei Besprozvannykh.
The Russian delegation also visited the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies and the largest greenhouse Ecotomato that grows roses.
The Russian delegation also had a working meeting with Governor of the Central Bank of f Armenia Martin Galstyan. On the same day they had a meeting with Vardan Urutyan, the Rector of the Agrarian University of Armenia to discuss joint programs. -0-
